Ms. Meena Mishra, CEO, The Impish Lass Publishing House

On this occasion team ILPH shares the journey so far

This Publishing house, which is the brainchild of Ms Meena Mishra, started humbly with a mega vision four years back. The mission was to provide a platform to each soul that wishes to write. From then on, there is no looking backwards. With the passing moments, it has been adding new dimensions to it.

It all started with the release of anthologies with innovative themes that kindled and intrigued the writers to contribute. As a CSR project, was born the young bards project. This gave opportunity to school and college budding writers to unleash their creative wings and voice their thoughts.

The zeal of The Impish Lass Publishing House travelled beyond boundaries and reached worldwide. It now has writers from Canada, Dubai, the United States, Hong Kong, to name a few. People from across the world reach out to utilise the service of the Publishing house.

The Impish Lass Publishing House is ably led by the dynamic CEO Ms Meena Mishra, who is always on her toes seeking every creative venture. Journal Littéraire de l’Impish Lass”, a Biannual Peer Reviewed Multidisciplinary Journal which comprises four segments ‘linguistics and applied linguistics’, ‘global affairs’, ‘biology and medicine’ and ‘literati segment’ was the new tributary to it that started its journey in 2021. The CEO understood the need to empower the teachers to empower the kids and geared up her team to share the knowledge to the State Board Teachers of Maharashtra through the inception of SSC Warriors. It helps publishing novels and poetry collections of aspiring writers at a very nominal cost. Also understanding the potential of local language, the publishing house offers a forum to Marathi writers to showcase their skills. It is also spreading its wings into the framework of other forms of media.

Here is the share of the members of The Impish Lass Publishing House of their experience being part of it.

One day, during my post-retirement days, came a call to me, from the CEO & Publisher of  ‘The Impish Lass Publishing House’, Mrs.Meena Mishra, to be a guest speaker on the “World Book Day”, that year (2018). End of the day, she assigned me the job of an editor of an anthology which she was planning to bring out-Are We Mere Spectators?”  Not only did I successfully edit my segment in the said book but I was recognized as one of the “Best Editors.”

After this first book edition, very soon she entrusted me with the job of editing yet another anthology captioned, “Meticulous Men of Mettle”. Wanting to keep me engaged, she entrusted me with the  conceptualization of the theme of “National Issues” which was titled “Speak Your Mind”. This third book was sent to Hon’ble Prime Minister, Mr.Narendra Modi and the PMO sent a good letter in acknowledgement too.

Krishna Kumar

Then to put in a nutshell, in a span of about two years, the following books were edited by me : Yes Boss, Jumboree Jubilation-1, The Travellers’ Diary, Hat tip, The Trying Times & the latest Jumboree Jubilation-2. Thus, as of date, I have Edited & compiled NINE anthologies.

S. KRISHNA KUMAR, Executive Editor

Mrs. Meena Mishra reposes so much trust and confidence in me while entrusting me with any assignment. Before any event or a special program, she would first approach me on how to go about, on planning etc. Thus, I was happy to get involved with organizing &  anchoring the events and ensure smooth functioning.. She sees me as a ‘Fatherly figure’ to seek advise whenever needed. She is a good motivator and guide to many  aspiring editors and respects senior editors too. I owe all my success, recognitions, popularity that I have earned in the literary field, to the ILPH which has honoured me with recognitions and awards: The Best Editor(1st), The Most Meticulous Editor, The Multifaceted Executive Editor, The Most Loyal Editor & for TILPH Disaster Management Authority.

I sincerely thank my loyal, dedicated & committed writers who have always stood by me and supported me. Wish you all a healthy & prosperous 2023 !

Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself – -George Bernard Shaw

This quote not just complies with Meena Mishra, the CEO of The Impish Lass Publishing House, but also resonates with everyone who is a part of ILPH in any form.

MADHU JAISWAL, Executive Editor

To let their visions, get fulfilled, their destiny transforms for betterment. The ILPH is a platform that has provided exposure to a myriad of people to showcase their talent creatively.

While its inception I too was privileged enough to be chosen by the maverick Meena Mishra, CEO of The Impish Lass Publishing House to be a part of an incredible journey that was about to roll on a mission that has endless successions.

The journey from being a housewife to a poet-writer, editor, and graphic designer has been a roller coaster ride. I am proudly associated with the publishing house in the capacity of Executive Editor and in-house graphic designer.

The journey with the publishing house has benefitted me in a way that I have never thought about in my life. The small gesture of having faith in your fellow person can create magic and I’m the best example. Association with the publishing house not only added value to my life but gave me an identity that I could barely dream of!

Also, would like to state, the zeal, and enthusiasm that all my fellow editors and writers put in and the way Meena Mishra portrays grit and vigour in her approach is praiseworthy.

The coordination, the moral values, and the motto of the publishing house stand tall, “Each writer that writes, is entitled to get published!”

-MADHU JAISWAL, Executive Editor

If you love your work, you’ll be out there every day trying to do it the best you possibly can, and soon everybody around will catch the passion from you – like a fever.Sam Walton

KIRTHIKA JAYAKUMAR, EDITOR

The above quote best goes with my responsibility at The Impish Lass Publishing House. The love Ms. Meena Mishra, CEO, TILPH has towards what she does is infectious and inspires me to do the best possible I can. Three years back, Ms. Naghma Shaikh introduced me to TILPH. I was a contributing writer for a book that compiled the thoughts of teachers of the world. It gave me immense satisfaction. I started contributing to more anthologies. My family too contributed happily. The happiness it gave made my association with TILPH stronger and one fine day got an offer from the CEO, Ms. Meena Mishra if I would take up the role of an editor. Who would want to deny the honour? I had my concerns, but the trust the master had, drove me and here I am what I am today – one of the privileged Editors of TILPH.

It’s a fact well-known that the indestructible force of prejudice maintains a directly proportionate relationship between youth and aptitude for work. Unfortunately for the zeal and potential endlessly pumping through the young veins of the country, this is a relationship well accepted by the wisdom of the nation. And then it’s said, the scions of adolescence don’t grasp ‘growth’. How can they when, on top of natural technicalities, they are made to run this maze?

Shreya Jain, Editor

My state was no different, frivoling through the maze where daylight, not even in mirage, was a sight. My fate would’ve been that of Abhimanyu’s had I not found ‘The Impish Lass Publishing House.’

What Hogwarts became for Hermione, TILPH became for me: a home that accepted, cultivated, and taught this teenager what true success is. And the rest, as they say, is history, which, through our posts and books, you can read! –

The Impish Lass Publishing House – A truly selfless and philanthropic publishing house just like its CEO Ms. Meena Mishra. It is a blessing in disguise for me as a teacher turned writer, bilingual-poet and an editor to nurture my dreams and strengthen my wings to fly high under this name. In the days of pandemic when everything seems negative, this publishing house came to my rescue with varied opportunities to utilize my free and stressful time to know my true potential and work upon self-improvement. -SHRUTI BHARDWAJ, EDITOR

Life is never single dimensional as we all know,

We have to experience happiness, sorrow, loss and exhilaration for us to live and grow.’

I had written these lines in my poem, “Beautiful Life” that defines my oeuvre. I realised early on that, that life is not just a bed of roses, but it has its shares of thorns too. My writings of short stories and poems, published in the anthologies of The Impish Lass Publishing House reflect this very reality.

VAISHALI CHANDORKAR-CHITALE, EDITOR

A graduate of English literature and an alumna of IIMC (Journalism) I have worked as an educator and moulded young minds to fight injustice and live with honour. As a journalist, I have covered human interest stories, which helped me develop my writing and observation skills. My stories and poems published by the TILPH have won many awards and certificates. My debut book of poems, “Whispers of Immortality” published recently has garnered rave reviews by poetry lovers.

As a freelance editor, I have edited three anthologies for the publishing house and have contributed stories and poems for many anthologies. I value my association with TILPH and am looking forward to many more fruitful years ahead with the publishing house and its dynamic CEO, Ms.Meena Mishra.

I have been associated with the Impish Lass Publishing House as a writer for more than a year and have been part of many of its anthologies. It’s my proud privilege to be now in their team. The CEO, Meena Mishra ma’am, as is rightly said, gives liberties for creative freedom and expression. The whole team works together in a positive camaraderie and that is the secret of its success. There are multiple contests held online, to keep everyone in high spirits. Themes chosen for the anthologies are so creative and diverse that we writers are automatically compelled to bring out our artistic juices to the fore. It is good to see enthusiasm and dynamism oozing out from every team member.

I wish TILPH every success in its endeavors.

Dr SANAM VASEEM SHAIKH, EDITOR

The Impish Lass Publishing House has served as an angel in Covid period. I started my writing with Impish and got the chance to be an editor for E-book ” Pennywise “. The faith that Magnanimous Meena Madam had put in me, gave me confidence to edit two more anthologies ” Blackboard and Beyond ” and ” The Impish Eagle” which indeed accomplished me with wings to soar high in the sky of my imagination and execution of my thoughts in the form of poems and stories. I wish all my co-authors a very Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year. May this year be filled with loads of good wishes and blessings.

“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” — Lao Tzu

I believe that I have emulated this infamous quote without even realising it. The power to dare a magnificent dream was provided by ‘The Impish Lass Publishing House’, the honorable and multi-faceted CEO, Ms. Meena Mishra, my editors who gave me the platform to articulate and shape my story forms, and most importantly my readers.

SAMHITA MUKHERJEE, EDITOR

The first plunge or the virgin footsteps are the most daunting for a traveller, especially when embarking solo. It is one thing to write an essay, but quite another to pull themes, plots, and sensory details from rudimentary outlines to be frozen in time.

My journey of a thousand miles and perhaps more has just begun and thankfully there is no looking back or elsewhere. Needless to say, the most important milestone that I have reached until now is the euphoria of reading multitudinous creative works alongside the learning that each of them dished out; nurturing me as a human being.

The Impish family has grown sizably on all fronts and its new venture the SSC English Edu Warriors, a brainchild of Ms. Meena Mishra has surpassed cliched boundaries of a publishing house to only print anthologies. It has been my great honour to be associated with this project as an educator. The fun doesn’t end here for as an editor curating an anthology just makes my journey perfect. Heartfelt gratitude to the publishing house for allowing me to become a published writer, poet, and an editor.

-SAMHITA MUKHERJEE, EDITOR

Thank you for this wonderful opportunity for me to reflect on my journey as an editor. It has been fairly satisfying and validation for multi-tasking, showcasing multiple skills while executing leadership skills.

Not only me, but the rest of the editors would have gone through the same for sure. It has been wonderful sharing my tips with my colleagues and learning from some too.

As the Captain of the Ship the responsibilities dawned, when announced as the editor. From reaching out to authors, to designing the communications, to keeping the enthusiasm flowing, I had to ensure creativity sprouted through every word and every format.

ANAMIKA KUNDU, EDITOR

Human interaction is the most challenging, what appeals to one, may antagonize another. The erudite author may not mind an extra comma or a suggested twisting of structures, but a new mother (read author) may feel threatened with even a single comma turned down from her precious baby (read first write up). Diplomacy is the reward and heightened insight the crown after many such trysts.

Coaxing authors to put pen to paper and turn their thoughts inky was dogged determination. To communicate the theme and cover design to a graphic designer across the world in Toronto, was another feat. The artwork has garnered great appreciation.

When the book was made available not only on Amazon India, but across the globe in paperback and on kindle, the buzz went worldwide. Appreciation from the co-authors was humbling as was the plethora of posts on all social media platforms.

SNEH KHATRI, Graphic Designer-TILPH

“The people at The Impish Lass Publishing House are wonderful to work with. They are encouraging and dedicated. Each one at TILPH understands and ponders the importance of teamwork. It is a pleasure to spend my days in the company of such passionate and talented professionals. The work environment is supportive and inspiring, which allows me to grow in my expertise domain i.e. as a designer. Overall, The Impish Lass Publishing House is an amazing place to work, and I am grateful to have such a great experience.”

My association with the Impish Lass Publishing House started with me hoping against hope that I find a destination to give fruition to all my stories. I was tired of baseless rejection and          ‘red-tapism’ in the larger fiction publishing scenario in India. When Meena Ma’am realized my passion for writing, she opened the doors to what I call a life-long association with scribes of all ages, walks, and perceptions of life.

SHUBHAM DASGUPTA, EDITOR

I have worked on two anthologies for this publication and have been awestruck to find that indeed, anyone who wants to write, can have a chance at getting published under this banner. I have experienced limitless creative freedom here and earnestly wish this publication to diversify into a far wider domain of comics and graphic novel genre! It’s been such a satisfying  experience that I wish I had ILPH when I was in school!

-SHUBHAM DASGUPTA, EDITOR

When the whole world was in despair and anguish, due to the deadly pandemic, ‘The Impish Lass Publishing House,’ came as a boon in disguise for me.

APARNA PATWARDHAN BHAT, EDITOR

I lost my most dearest person on this earth, ‘My Mother.’ Life was never the same. During that time, ‘The Impish Lass,’ was a breather for me. I first wrote for the anthology, “MOM.”

This in some way instilled that Impish spark of writing in me, which time and again was kept ignited and now burns steadily as a lamp. The enigmatic fervor and trust of Ms. Meena was contagious indeed. She was the only person who could see this hidden writer and poet in me. It’s only due to her encouragement, I felt the writer/poet in me, could walk and trod in this writing world. I started contributing my anecdotes, short stories and poems for various anthologies.

How perfectly our motto suits my journey with Impish, ‘Every soul that writes has a right to get published.’  My journey with, ‘The Impish Lass Publishing House’ cemented firmly, when I joined them as an Editor in the year 2020. This amalgamation has brought about a complete metamorphic change in me and my approach towards everything. Since then, it has been a great learning experience, as I strongly believe that, ‘Learning is a beautiful and continuous process and the only treasure, which remains with you forever.’

There is a lot more to do and much more to write…!

APARNA PATWARDHAN BHAT, EDITOR

My journey with The Impish Lass Publishing House began in the summer of 2021, when I decided to contribute to an anthology Changed Forever. Then, it was a rollercoaster ride as a writer – with me contributing to several anthologies which appealed to me. Soon, I got attracted to the editing process and spoke with Ms. Meena Mishra, the Founder & CEO of The Impish Lass Publishing House about an idea I had for an anthology and she agreed to take me on as an editor and Breaking Barriers took shape and has been published in December-2022. I feel that many have been helped during the pandemic to hone their talents from within the confines of their homes. I love the vision that Ms. Mishra has brought to publishing: ‘Each soul that writes has the right to get published’. This just doesn’t apply to writing but to editing too as she has trust and belief in the passion exhibited by writers and editors.

I have been a teacher and educator for as long as I can remember. The classroom has provided me  a space for the things I appreciate the most- theatre, reading and writing.

A life full of students and their graphic performance in class, particularly while explaining undone assignments, had filled my  life with a wide range of stories that had remained untold until a serendipitous meeting with The Impish Lass Publishing House team. This meeting opened fantastic new vista of writing and mentoring writers; giving me an opportunity to self-indulgently explore a universe were fact and fiction blend with happy equanimity.

TILP with all the creatively planned anthology titles allowed me to put down thoughts that had till that moment kept hidden away from the world and there was no stopping me after that – story followed poem in rapid succession. It is this unique quality that transforms TILP from a ‘just’ a team to a supporting family who want you to find your voice, is what keeps me wanting to remain within its warm and friendly fold. The wide and generous interpretation of the subject matter and the careful care with which editors reach out to first time authors makes TILP so special. I am  convinced that there could be no other place more encouraging to share and publish with.

Gratitude to my friend, an Impish Lass writer Madhuri Godbole who introduced me to The Impish Lass Publishing house. The tagline instantly caught my attention. Soon my secret desire to be a published writer fructified. When I met the power behind all this in the form of a beautiful petite lady the CEO Meena Mishra I was awestruck! Relaxed, poised and at the same time bubbly, full of energy and enthusiasm respecting and valuing each one of us and our efforts to write. In this journey I made friends with wonderful writers and awesome editors who guided and inspired me to write. Kudos to the Impish Lass publishing house which has given us wings to become published writers. The final outcome of each book has always been quality paper, readable print and perfect binding and launched within the stipulated time frame. We are like a family at The Impish Lass Publishing House.

Dear Impish Lass

You came into my life with a magical stick .  .

Firstly, you gave me the identity of a writer and now you gave me the opportunity to represent my mother tongue (Marathi), as an editor. This is the most awaited project for me.

I used to write in Marathi for so many years but never got any platform to publish my write up. You  offered  a platform  not only to me but you are providing a platform for so many other people who are waiting for this golden chance.
